Installation & Project Management
Your Install Should Go Smoothly the First Time, Not After Three Tries
From engineered plans to operational storage, our OSHA-certified crews and dedicated project managers deliver on-time, code-compliant installations with minimal disruption to your operations.
Warehouse rack installation is the professional assembly and anchoring of pallet racking, shelving, and material handling systems within a facility. Proper installation requires OSHA compliance, concrete anchor verification, plumb and level tolerances, and coordination with the facility's operations schedule to minimize downtime.
The Challenge
Most Install Problems Start Before the First Bolt Is Tightened
Missed delivery windows, crews arriving at an unprepared site, racks staged in the wrong sequence, zero coordination with your operations team. These are the things that turn a two-day install into a two-week ordeal. Add unqualified labor and improper anchoring to the mix, and you're not just dealing with delays. You're looking at OSHA exposure, voided warranties, and a system that may not pass inspection.
We assign a dedicated project manager who owns the installation from first delivery to final sign-off, and is on-site or reachable every day in between.

What You Get
Everything Included, No Surprises
Complete Pre-Installation Planning
Before the first crew arrives, we hold a site meeting, develop a detailed project schedule, coordinate material deliveries, arrange equipment rentals, and submit a safety plan. Nothing is improvised on day one.
Certified Installation & On-Site Supervision
OSHA-certified installers handle all labor: base plates, uprights, beams, bracing, and safety components. A Hammerhead supervisor is on-site throughout, verifying plumbness, torque values, and anchor installation against the engineered drawings.
Inspection, Documentation & Handoff
We conduct a comprehensive final walk-through, install load capacity placards, deliver as-built photos and documentation, brief your team on proper use and maintenance, and remove all debris. Full warranty paperwork is in your hands before we leave.
How It Works
A Clear Process, Start to Finish
Pre-Installation Planning
Your project manager reviews engineered drawings, verifies material quantities, coordinates delivery schedules, and meets with your operations team to establish work zones, staging areas, and a disruption-minimizing timeline.
Site Preparation & Safety Setup
Day one begins with work zone barricades, tool staging, and a crew safety briefing. We verify floor conditions, mark anchor locations per drawings, and confirm every safety protocol with your on-site team before a single upright is touched.
Systematic Installation
Installation proceeds methodically: base plates and shims are leveled, uprights anchored with engineered fasteners at specified spacing, frames assembled with required bracing, beams set at engineered elevations, and safety components added throughout. Every step is executed to spec.
Quality Control & Documentation
Supervisors continuously verify plumbness, alignment, anchor installation, and hardware torque. We photograph progress, log component records, and document any field modifications, so as-built conditions match the permit drawings.
Final Inspection & Handoff
We walk the completed system against the drawings, confirm all connections and safety components, install load capacity placards, clean the site, and brief your team on proper use and maintenance. All warranty documentation is delivered before we leave.
Scope of Work
Installations We Handle
New Construction & Build-Outs
Installing racking in empty facilities or new construction requires coordination with general contractors, concrete subs, and MEP trades. We integrate with construction schedules, coordinate embed placement, and ensure the system is ready for your move-in date.
Expansion & Retrofit Projects
Adding racking to an operating warehouse demands careful sequencing. We install new systems while you continue operations, working off-hours or on weekends when needed to protect existing inventory and keep product moving.
Relocation & Reconfiguration
Moving to a new facility or redesigning existing space requires careful disassembly, transport, and reinstallation. We inventory components, mark systems for reassembly, and reinstall to original or updated configurations with minimal downtime.
Emergency Installations & Repairs
When rack damage or urgent operational changes can't wait, we mobilize quickly. Rush installations, emergency structural repairs, and temporary storage solutions get your warehouse back to capacity fast.
The Difference
Why Facilities Teams Choose Hammerhead
Safety & Liability Protection
Improperly installed racking is an OSHA liability. Inadequate anchoring, incorrect shimming, or missing components can lead to rack collapse and serious injury. All installers are OSHA 10 or 30 certified, we carry $5M+ liability insurance, and we've maintained zero lost-time accidents over the past three years. Our installations meet OSHA and ANSI MH16.1 requirements, protecting your team and limiting your exposure.
Manufacturer Warranties Stay Intact
Most racking manufacturers void warranties on DIY or unqualified installations. We install to manufacturer specifications, preserving full product warranties, and add our own one-year workmanship guarantee on top.
30–40% Faster Than Internal Teams
Our experienced crews bring the right equipment, know the solutions for challenging conditions, and avoid costly rework. Most projects complete 30–40% faster than self-managed installations, meaning your warehouse returns to full productivity sooner.
Pass Inspection the First Time
We document floor anchoring, provide load capacity placards, maintain proper tolerances, and ensure the as-built system matches permit drawings. When the inspector shows up, you're ready.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does installation take?
Timeline depends on project size and complexity. A typical 500-pallet selective rack system takes 5–7 installation days. Larger systems (1,000+ positions) may take 2–4 weeks. We provide a detailed schedule during planning and track progress daily to meet committed dates.
Can you install racks we purchased from another supplier?
Yes. We install all major racking brands and system types. Provide us with your engineered drawings and racking components and we'll handle the installation professionally, with full documentation, and in a way that preserves manufacturer warranties.
Do you provide an installation warranty?
Every Hammerhead installation includes a one-year workmanship warranty covering anchor installation, assembly, and alignment. This is separate from and in addition to manufacturer product warranties. If an installation-related issue arises, we return to correct it at no cost.
What if we need changes during the installation?
Field changes happen. Our project managers assess requested modifications, determine the impact on schedule and budget, coordinate any needed engineering revisions, and document everything properly. We work collaboratively to accommodate reasonable changes without losing project momentum.
Can you anchor into deteriorated or weak concrete floors?
Yes. Older buildings require specialized anchoring. We perform pull tests to verify anchor capacity, specify epoxy anchors or supplemental reinforcement where needed, and coordinate concrete repairs if required. Our installations meet engineered anchor loads regardless of floor conditions.
Project Management
What Your Dedicated Project Manager Handles
Schedule Development & Delivery Coordination
Your PM creates a detailed installation timeline, coordinates all material deliveries, manages crew scheduling, and works around your busy seasons. We sequence everything so equipment arrives in the right order and your team is never caught waiting.
Vendor & Contractor Management
We manage all relationships with racking manufacturers, anchor suppliers, equipment rental companies, and specialty trades. We handle procurement, track inbound deliveries, and coordinate every third party, so you have one point of contact, not six.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
Your PM conducts regular site inspections, verifies all work against engineered drawings, documents progress with photos, and catches issues before they require rework. Every deviation from spec is logged and addressed before it compounds.
Problem Resolution & Communication
Field changes happen. Your PM assesses modifications, coordinates engineering revisions if needed, manages change orders transparently, and provides regular status updates. You're never left wondering what's happening or why the schedule shifted.
A good install starts long before the crew shows up. We sequence every phase so the client knows exactly what's happening and when. No surprises, no scrambling. That's how you finish on schedule without cutting corners.
