The Project
Very narrow aisle pallet racking across a 500,000 sq ft, 36 ft clear document storage building in Victorville, CA. The system delivers roughly 60,000 pallet positions at six levels high on 80 inch wire-guided aisles, with seismic doublers and footplates on the frames.
The Challenge
Filling half a million square feet at 36 ft clear means the racking design drives the whole operation: aisle width sets the equipment, frame capacity sets the load, and the seismic category sets the connection details. California seismic requirements meant the frames needed reinforcement at the base and the column before the jurisdiction would approve high-pile storage at that scale.
The Outcome
Hammerhead designed, permitted, and installed roughly 60,000 pallet positions six levels high across the building. Frames were built with seismic doublers and footplates to satisfy the California seismic case, and 80 inch wire-guided very narrow aisles let the operator run turret trucks the full length of every run. Hammerhead pulled the high-pile racking permit through the city as the licensed contractor of record.
