Phased VNA Racking for Document Storage Facility

The Project

Very narrow aisle pallet racking for a document storage facility in Haslet, TX, installed in three phases to just over 58,000 pallet positions at six levels high. The layout runs 80 inch wire-guided aisles and holds 74,000 sq ft of staging area open at both ends of the building.

The Challenge

The operator needed to fill a large distribution building with as many pallet positions as it would hold, without pausing intake while the work happened. That called for a layout tight enough to justify very narrow aisle equipment, tall enough to use the full clear height, and phased so finished sections could take product while the next section was still going up.

The Outcome

Hammerhead designed, permitted, and installed a three-phase layout totaling 58,266 pallet positions, roughly 19,500 per phase, six levels high on 80 inch wire-guided very narrow aisles. Staging areas of 34,000 and 40,000 sq ft were held open for receiving and order assembly, and each phase was released for loading as it finished rather than waiting on the full building. Hammerhead pulled the city building permit as the licensed contractor of record.
