The Project
Very narrow aisle pallet racking added to an in-service document storage building in Carrollton, TX. Hammerhead designed, permitted, and installed 2,000 pallet positions at five levels high on 80 inch wire-guided aisles.
The Challenge
The building was already running, so the new racking had to work around the existing column grid, sprinkler layout, and floor without a shutdown. Getting the density the operator wanted meant committing to very narrow aisle equipment, which puts tight tolerances on rack alignment and floor flatness and leaves little room to correct after the fact.
The Outcome
Hammerhead handled the layout, the city permit, and the installation of 2,000 pallet positions five levels high. The 80 inch wire-guided aisles let the operator run turret trucks the length of every run, and the finished design pulled substantially more storage out of the same four walls without adding square footage.
